In this video, filmed during a lecture at Howard University in 1984, Kathleen Collins teaches on various aspects of storytelling, character development, and filmmaking. 

Collins carved out a career for herself as a playwright and filmmaker during a time when black women were rarely seen in those roles. She is the author of several screenplays and a collection of short stories titled, Whatever Happened to Interracial Love? She is best known for her film Losing Ground (1982).
